Debates around standardized testing have been around for as long as standardized test scores have been part of education. Standardized testing is a form of test that involves all test takers to answer the same question and scores them in a consistent manner wherein it is possible for those who gave the tests to compare and evaluate the performance of each student. Some argue that students undergo too much testing: by their high schools, by the state, for college admissions, etc. Others argue that standardized tests are the only fair way to evaluate student achievement. Schools implement standardized testing because it is objective, non biased and helps to accurately assess student’s academic skills. According to studies, teachers end up preparing their students for a specific standardized test rather than making them understand and gain knowledge on the subject being taught. It makes fewer chances to improve students’ learning ability. Lets debate to understand whether standardized exams should be abolished or not.
