What matters most when it comes to getting a job is a debate as old as higher education itself. Does that higher degree get your foot in the door, or does your past work experience count for more? Many argue that a degree only shows how good you are academically. It does not ensure that whatever theory one has learned during the degree course can be implemented practically by the person. Success in actual work tells prospective employers more about what you have to offer. Work experience can make you a good match for a particular job today, but without higher education, you may lack the skills that are important for advancement tomorrow. Also, we can see that many rich & famous have made it big without any formal education or degree.
In this masterclass, Once participants join ,the host will divide them in to two teams , FOR and AGAINST. Participants to brainstorm the points related to topic for an effective discussion. Below are few questions which will help you brainstorm, Note : Late joinees will be be allowed as spectators. Join on time to debate For :
Q1. “Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.” – John Dewey? What do you think of this quote?
Q2.Higher education can help you find the right career to leverage your skills which professional exposure might not always guarantee as you will have to experiment and work on a trial and error based technique.
Q3. Formal education also provides a degree as proof of being educated in a subject and saves time and the risk for employees to hire undertrained people.

Q1. What cannot be learnt through education, training, and observation is learnt by experience, and learning through experience is the hardest and the best. For, experience is not inherited; earned. What are your thoughts on this?
Q2. The world still values the concept of ‘learning by doing’. Many successful careers have emerged from experimenting and experience. For a profession to flourish merely based on this, a person needs to have exceptional talent and motivation along with considerable effort. Not just a degree. How true is that?
Q3. Gaining success in your career through work experience will surely be more valuable in your professional journey than getting a successful academic record through education. The real world will always valuable professional experience over educational qualification what are your debating points for this?
